BBC America is supposed to start showing The Tudors on Wednesday, but they had the first two seasons on this past weekend. Thanks to yesterday's holiday and today's ice, I watched whatever episodes I had managed to record (missing about five of the twenty for not realizing it was on at first or that they were showing two seasons and not one.
It originally aired on Showtime so I'm guessing the bits edited out to make way for commercials were largely sex and violence. Fine by me since torture was common at the time and I don't need to watch that. It's a pretty decent show overall. The acting is good and they keep the story moving. The scenery and costumes are lovely, too. The only problem I had with it was some of the historical inaccuracies (particularly the death of Wolsey). They clearly were not out to make a documentary, and I understand many of the changes they made to make the story flow better. My only concern is that people don't realize what bits are true and which are false. I enjoy good historical fiction as much as the next person,, but it never hurts to look into what actually happened.
